Washington Monument

Originally constructed in 1815, the Washington Monument in Baltimore underwent a massive renovation in 2015. As part of the bicentennial renovation, a lighting system was introduced for the ground floor exhibition space and the 227-step staircase to the lookout platform. Two primary challenges were faced in lighting the Washington Monument interior: it was important that the new design reference the historic lighting condition of the space, and that all the lighting hardware was concealed within the architecture.
