Asian Art Museum

San Francisco, CA | 2020

This museum houses one of the world’s largest collections of Asian art. The expansion of the historic 1916 Beaux Arts building included a new pavilion built on top of an existing service wing. The addition, which includes a new rooftop terrace and sculpture garden, complements the existing façade and transforms the museum’s exterior identity. Our design approach focused on illuminating the new wing of the museum, providing flexible lighting and lighting controls for the galleries, and upgrading existing gallery lighting equipment to LED.
