The renovation of this 1933 library sought to modernize the space while preserving the building’s historic character. Our scope included lighting design for the Meyerhoff Children’s Garden. Our design approach focused on rethinking the electric lighting strategy around the “Day” reading room skylight, upgrading the fiber-optic planetarium in the “Night” reading room to LED, and devising a color-changing lighting system to draw interest to the “Twilight” space that connects the two reading rooms. Our work on this project also included developing a lighting control strategy and focusing the lighting after installation.
