Living Seashore Exhibit

Baltimore, MD | 2016

This exhibit at Baltimore’s National Aquarium promotes understanding of the Mid-Atlantic seashore ecosystem. In accordance with the exhibit designer’s intent for visitors’ experiences to reflect the movements of people exploring at the beach, we devised lighting schemes that fit various levels of interactivity. Visitors were invited to interact with plants and animals at two large touch pools, while digital touch tables and tactile walls also fostered interactive learning. We carefully calibrated our lighting approach for the touch pools and digital touch tables to avoid glare from reflections off the water and screens. Our work on this project included coordinating lighting controls and focusing the lighting after installation.
