Baltimore, MD | 2014
This museum renovation, performed in conjunction with the BMA’s 100th anniversary, included restoration work on the historic main entrance, a transformation of the interior East Lobby, upgrades to the landscape lighting, and upgrades to the mechanical systems, building automation systems, and life-safety infrastructure. Our lighting approach for the galleries included integrating lighting with the historic architectural fabric and devising flexible lighting systems to accommodate rotating exhibitions in the galleries. Throughout the project, we worked closely with the architect to choose material finishes and lighting that would provide elegant, energy-efficient upgrades while remaining understated and consistent with the architecture’s refined design. Our work also included upgrading the existing lighting control system, focusing the lighting after installation, and reestablishing the museum’s night identity with a new façade lighting approach.
