Hampstead, MD | 2012
Two modernist additions, one clad in glass and the other screened, contrast with the weathered character of this 19th century farmhouse. To establish a strong visual connection between the interior and exterior, we based our lighting design intent on a concept of multi-layered space that featured the building, the surrounding landscape, and the client’s extensive art collection. Discreet architectural lighting highlights key surfaces of this varied composition by selectively illuminating some building surfaces while leaving others in shadow.
