Philadelphia, PA | 2019
This historic museum renovation included upgrades to the Penn Museum’s Coxe and Harrison wings, both of which were added to the building in the early twentieth century. Our lighting design approach focused on providing flexible lighting in the galleries and integrating lighting equipment with the building’s historic fabric. We also provided general daylighting consultation for some of the daylit galleries. A primary feature of the lighting design was the 620-seat Harrison Auditorium, which is illuminated in part by historic cast iron sconces around the perimeter. We upgraded these fixtures to incorporate LED sources and added a custom uplight component to illuminate the historic brick ceiling.
